Why this matters for digital sovereignty
Messaging apps carry access to private communication and contact lists, and a US-based provider can be compelled under the CLOUD Act or FISA 702 to hand that data over. Check whether end-to-end encryption is on by default, who controls the keys, and where metadata is stored.
