Why it can stay free
The assessment, the knowledge base and the EU alternatives map are and remain free of charge. Making sovereignty risk visible shouldn't have a barrier to entry — the organisations hit hardest by dependence on non-European vendors are often also the ones with the smallest budget to investigate it.
Why we need donations
This tool sells no data to vendors and has no venture capital with its own agenda. Besides primary sponsor Accans BV (hours and hosting), we sell a limited number of self-managed ads, with no tracking and no influence on any score or ranking. Beyond that, the business model is largely dependent on donations and paid report sales.
That's a deliberate choice: the moment a vendor can pay for a better score or a higher spot on an alternatives list, this catalogue's independence is gone. Donations and report sales are the only revenue sources that don't carry that risk.
